Karina Camile Parker is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree in vocal performance and music education K-12.
Karina has spent most of her life training in musical theater, classical voice, dance, theater, and piano.
Karina began her studies at the Laguna Playhouse equity conservatory theater program, with a focus on drama and musical theater.
At Carnegie Mellon University School of Music, she had the opportunity to work with acclaimed soprano and professor Jennifer Aylmer, as well as with conductors such as Manfred Honeck (Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra) and Gary Wedow (Juilliard School). At Carnegie Mellon, Karina focused on the development of bel canto vocal technique and language studies, and well as her understanding of vocal pedagogy and music history.
Some of Karina‘s highlighted roles include Irene Molloy (Hello Dolly!), Gilmer (Godspell), Marty (Grease) Calisto (La Calisto), and Ida (Die Fledermaus). Not only does Karina’s professional experience include musical theater and opera, but also standard jazz repertoire, oratorio work, and operetta.
Native to Southern California, this is Karina‘s 5th year calling Pittsburgh home, and will be completing her student teaching this fall in Mt. Lebanon and Peter’s Township School Districts.
